A Portsmouth teenager has launched an independent nail business under the name of ‘Stuck on You’

Hermionie Jones, 18, began her independent business last week (Monday, January 13th) in her home studio in Cosham.

The intimate studio offers a range of services, including hard gel nail extensions, BIAB (builder in a bottle) treatments, press-on nails, and nail art.

Jones, who originally had the idea of opening a shop a few months ago, put her business plan into full motion; creating her nail studio within her back garden.

The intimate studio which holds space for just two customers is comfortable and cosy, she shares “I’d like to keep it [the studio] small, homely and more personal”

Jones’s mother who is also a beautician and skilled in many beauty treatments such as eyelashes, nails and massages has aided in setting up shop as well as the rest of her family.

The teenager first began practising and learning nail art within lockdown and completed a course with Capital (Hair and Beauty Shop) in  Southampton; the UK’s largest independent, hairdresser, beauty therapist and nail technician.

Jones is committed to providing accessibility and flexibility regarding the customer's booking process.

She shared “At the minute because obviously I’m trying to get people to come to me, I’m leaving it very much open. [I’m open] Seven days a week at the minute. If I’ve got a client I’ve got a client. I think other people have lives, kids, if that's when they can only get a bit of me time, then why not!”

Jones’ who also loves to experiment with her drawings on to her designs, is confident in providing unique designs and custom sets.

Regarding the beauty industry, she mentions “I feel like the beauty industry has got such a name for being bit**y, and I don’t actually think it is. I only started a week ago and I’ve had two businesses as such that do hair and beauty that have messaged me to say oh well done you’re doing really well”

“They’ve seen its as a new business and rather seeing it as competition; they’ve said ‘hey I’ve seen you’re trying to start up’ and even book in with me”
